Florio Designs is the creation of designer, Gail Florio. Making jewellery and hair accessories is Gail’s passion, which is apparent through all of her designs. She crafts beautiful jewellery, fascinators, tiaras and party hair accessories, all of which are available in her online shop.

Gail is a self-taught designer and regularly builds on her skills by attending technical courses. She has recently gained a BTEC with merit in Millinery Design from Kensington and Chelsea College.

She was 12 when she came across a bead shop and there began her lifelong passion for making jewellery. Gail is originally from Dublin but moved to England with her family not long after she first started making jewellery. She also lived in Belgium for a couple of years, but returned to the UK to start university where she gained a degree in Spanish, French and Business.

In 2006, Gail moved to London where her interest in handcrafted jewellery was well and truly fired up again. That was also the year she got engaged and as she was planning her wedding, not content with making all of the jewellery for her wedding party, she embarked on millinery and Tiara courses. Having enjoyed the whole experience, she decided to continue crafting so that others could enjoy her creations and so in 2007 Florio Designs was born. She now sells her handcrafted jewellery, tiaras and fascinators online and at craft fairs.

 Last year, Gail became a Tiara and Wedding jewellery teacher for the London School of Jewellery, this year she has added Cocktail rings, beginners beading and Feather fascinators to her class repertoire. She still enjoys attending crafting courses herself and thinks it’s really important to constantly improve her skills and learn new techniques.

September 2011 sees the re-launch of her website and she is adding more items on a weekly basis. Gail is currently appearing in Vogues Hatstand (Oct, 2011) and Wedding Ideas Magazine (Aug 2011, issue 99). 2011 is turning out to be an exciting year!
